Range Road references directions on a map or a verbal direction to a rural destination. The destination could be quite secluded. A range road in Canada is a road that runs north–south along a range grid line of the Dominion Land Survey. I always saw the rural Alberta road grid as a series of colours and lines, hence my painted interpretation. As a kid I traveled these roads with my father who was a surveyor in his early years with Canadian Western Natural Gas.
