This is work #1 in the series and it was brought to life using Japanese Gouache Paints and then placed on a 36 x 36" canvas.
"Inner Landscape I" is purely a "Metaphysical" work of art. The intent
(and title) of this series is designed to help direct the viewer to the
infinite and wildly varying mood-images oriented within the framework of
one singular human mind and life.
Within each human being, lies a vast and private array of "Internal Landscapes."
Our accumulation of individual experiences and life history will depict
infinite images for us, if we take the time to look inside and view
them, Our current and "in the moment" state of mind may very well depict
an entirely different set of images for us. Our feeling about our
future goals, dreams, and aspirations...will often lead us to yet
another and completely new and different set of internal visual
landscapes.
All of these internal landscapes wrapped up into one neat (or not so neat..) package, - the human mind.
This small but growing series was designed to conjure up and deliver to
the viewer these types of images and the feelings that go with them.
When each of these paintings are built, I will take myself to "One
Specific Moment" in time, either from the past, the recent, - or
possibly even drawing from a point in my projected future.
Given this thought, all of the works within this series should reflect
directly on the "Inner Landscape Image" I have pictured in my mind, and
then extracted and built at the time of the works construction.
Today's work "inner Landscape I" was created exactly in this fashion. It relates to a specific moment "in
my history" and then depicts those feelings freely and expressively
that directly relate to that moment. It is not going to be my place
today to delve into the specific moment of experience that "is" this
painting. I leave it for you to ponder on the image, and do some
introspection about what this specific memory might then be.
"Abstract Expressive Art," is all about representing these types of
experiences and the feelings that go hand-in-hand with them. Whether or
not Jackson Pollack knew it or not, each painting he made for us was a
piece of him. It was a snapshot of his inner-self for all to see, and it
is for us to derive some level of understanding and comprehension on
the image. Whether that be from his past, his current self, - or even
what he has projected for himself and his life.
The Metaphysical Artist and The Modernist Painter
As an artist I am completely devoted to continuing the essential mission
of the Modern Art Theories of the early 1900's. I have studied the
Paris movements of early 1920's (Montmartre & Montparnasse), and as
well even more deeply the German Modernists (i.e. The Bauhaus) for 35
plus years now.
All of this edification is still ongoing daily, - and I can honestly say
I will never be able to get enough data on the subject. I shall
continue my studies on this art period and as well the concept of
metaphysical creation forever. All in an effort to help grow and expand
my work and equally give further evidence back to the world of the
importance of Modern Art and it's movement.
